THE DIFFERENT MATERIALS THAT WE USE
We have been able to use three different materials, initially with Mr. Marcel Fiandrino (“History of the company” section) then with our company TTB, that are: sotomanto (Rome, Monte-Carlo, Cap d’Antibes), craon (Roland-Garros, Cagnes-sur-Mer) and granite soil (Monte-Carlo as well, Sophia Antipolis Country Club, TC Antibes, TC Grasse, Cap d'Ail).
We have noted the differences between these 3 materials. The biggest and most essential difference is that the granite soil resists frost and can thus permit uninterrupted playing all year long without having to resurface the courts annually after the winter ! (when does the frost start, when does it stop ?)
This is explained by the intrinsic composition of granite soil that allows for water to be completely evacuated from the top layer while the other materials retain it (craon and sotomanto “drink” water like a sponge and are immediately usable after rain but “swell” and “break” under the effects of frost), and also by our manufacturing process that allows for very rapid rainwater evacuation even after heavy and repeated rainfall.
We recommend using granite soil whatever the region may be (Paris, northern
and southern France) to guarantee uninterrupted tennis playing throughout the
year. This allows you to take up the game even right after torrential rainfall
and provides major savings in the end.
